Hello Friends and Family,
Wow this week has been fast! Yesterday our previous District
Leader told us that it was hump day, meaning that we are half we over the arch
of our stay at the MTC and it's all down hill from here. Holy Cow I feel like
I've only been here a week, and for some strange reason yestday felt like last
week. Well not much to report on. Busy as usually. We taught one of our tough
teacher investigators, and he told us afterwards that we did fantasic. I've been
needing there help with the Danish Languge, one on one. They keep telling me I'm
getting better, and we are still the fastest class that has picked up the
language so quickly! We had TRC last
friday (Training Resouce Center) which is we go and talk
to Danish members. Which they turned out to be Americans who served in Denmark.
They just wanted to start us off easy. After a couple TRC's we will Skype Danish
Members in Denmark! So excited for it! So after Friday's TRC, my teacher told us that we need to have equal
amount of teaching, me and my companion Elder Durrant. (He was able to see and
listen our lesson, because there was a camera in our investigator's room).
He told me Elder Durrant did 75% of the talking in both the investigators rooms
(we did 2 members that day), and I only talked about 25% of the time. That day
seemed to be the most stressful here at the MTC, other than the 1st day here.
But what I got out of that expierence, is that Elder Durrant is gifted to learn
this language quickly, his mom is an english major, he can talk and keep a
conversation with the person speaking. But I noticed that he was lacking
the testifying in the lessons. so the 25% of my teaching was talking and
testifying! I asked Elder Durrant if I'm not giving him a chance to
testify enough.... he claims he does it while he's talking. But I notice he
does give the testifying at the end. Which I feel is the most important to the
investigator. It feels more powerful to lay out what you know to be true in this
church and testify with the spirit at the same time.
We both decided to try a different approach. The next morning, we
split the lesson's up equally and we role played to each other what was going
to be said. We taught our teacher and he said "That was the best lesson I have
heard from both of you, what did you do differently? Everything connected in
this lesson than any one you have given me, keep up the good work". That was
great for the both us to hear that. We also taught our other teacher on the
Restoration and afterwards our District said why did you take so long? We were
like what do you mean? That was only like 15-20min. They told us no you've been
gone for 40minutes!!!! Wow time flew.
Ok so Sunday we got
called to do sacrament again, so happy I miss it back at home everytime I do it.
Oh I've got to add this part too. Brother Hoges, 1st counselor to the Branch
President, called me and Durrant for a meeting with him. We just barely got
our District Leader reassigned, so we knew that wasn't going to be it. We also
knew that the zone leaders were going to be realesed soon. So I was thinking the
whole time "We are totally Zone leaders", we got called into his room. He
extended the Calling to us to be "Sacrament Coordinaters". We accepted, I think
it's cooler to be that instead of Zone leader. We asked him what were the
responsiblities? We never heard of that calling. He said that we just need to
make sure the sacrament is ready every week before sacrament starts, clean up
afterwards, and zone leaders said we could assign people to bless the sacrament.
I told my companion after the meeting " We totally just got demoted to the
office of a teacher" we both laughed. We are so happy to have this calling, so
cool!
One last thing my district (Mainly Elder Johnson) has been under
the impression that my family is from Texas. They seriously think I have a Texas
accent. I know I sould like it sometimes but not even close. We just heard
someone speak to us at a devotional and she totally had a Huge TEXAS accent.
Elder Johnson has backed down from harrasing me about it since then. But he
still believes it true about me. He's crazy haha. Miss you all! Hope your having
a good time! See you next week. Remember to all you missionaries and future
missionaries..... no matter how hard the mission is, you have to remember "HARD
WORK DON'T COME EASY", especially the work for the Lord.

Howdy,
Ok Dad to start off I put like $14 on your card. Another spot on my leg
that the doctor back at home, who didn't think anything would happen to it,
started growing after my other puss spot popped. Which that one is looking much
better. He gave me 2 things of anti-biotics. One of them I have to take 4 times
a day for 10 days, and the other 2 times a day for 10 days. He also gave me
better ointment that is for Skin problems, it's looking much better now. I'm
conviced other than the food, The MTC is trying to kill me with drugs. So In my
letter I sent to mom I'm not sure if I said another Mupirocin, but I still need
that. Mom heads up, there is a MTC in Ghana, so I might not, most likely not at
all, see Alan. Because he's going there.
Satruday I got to see Skyler for the 1st and last time. He came up to
the main campus for a district hair cut. Forgot to put that in my other letter.
He's so excited to get out in the field. Sean's Visa came through but he has to
wait til the end of July for the next transfer for Austrailia.
So we are getting a little nervous, we talked to an elder widow Sister
going with us to Denmark on Sunday. She told us she was told that 24 Visas did
not make it, and we may have to leave at the end of September!!! So we may or
may not be going on August 12.
We're waiting on confirmation from our Branch President to be sure. Our district
leader told us that our Itenerary comes about 2 and 1/2 weeks before we leave.
So next week is when we get them. So we're keeping our fingers crossed. But she
did told us if that it doesn't come through we have to remember " WE are on the
Lord's time table". Which is true. So if it doesn't happen, we get transferred
somewhere in the states. 2 Dutchies did get there visas and they got transfered
to South Carolina and they are waiting to for there Visa's there and are still
serving. I wouldn't mind it if we got transferred to Florida, right dad? Man
that would be cool. To go to the same place where you toured in Europe, and also
to where you served!
Love you all, see you next week!
